The End of Summer by Morgainelefee The End of Summer by Morgainelefee
Translated to my little flowers faeries, this is the used/abused cliché melancholic-Geisha-walking-under-Sakura-trees- blablabla.
At the end of summer, Poppy Faerie takes a walk under the heathers, in the ancient-lost-(smurf?)-town.

Painted in PS.

I played a bit around with this to made it more lively and dreamy:

This is indeed a better outcome, I like it!
(I still suck at compositions :D )

You should look into the rule of two thirds for the start.
It's a very simple photography technique, which is also applicable to painting.

This one appears almost photographic! Really startling realism, quite enchanting.

Thank you a lot and sorry for late reply!
I would like to paint with rougher brush strokes, but I always fail and start to work too much on details.

this is one truly of magic and wonder.  I love your creations of these very small worlds that exist below our feet and above our heads...  beautiful colors, and great work at capturing the feeling of a passing time.

Thank you as always Michael for being so kind!
Those tiny creature are my favorites, too. If I had enough time, I'd like to paint such all day since Nature inspires me evey day for some new. I've several sketches in my computer which I never manage to finish.

Amazing! This inspired me for a game idea, maybe I'll turn it into an actual game.
my idea: You are a queen exploring your lost tiny kingdom. Find out what happened to the inhabitants.
It's game which builds on exploration, story and atmosphere.

I like very much this idea! If you could implement it, please go on!
I was thinking at some point to publish a book for children with all these tiny creatures going around.  hope one day to be able to do it.

The same from here - go for it! :)
This would be really amazing.
(one day I also would really like to publish one)
I would definitively buy your book, although I have no children ^^

And yes, I could definitively implement it!
I can't guarantee it'll be my next project, but I can say that it definitively inspires me and thus will have an impact on the project :)

Silence - Rest - Calm- ...
You created an indescribable atmosphere. I'd like to rest there, too.
All the little details are great. I first thought it might be a photo-manipulation, but as I looked closer I was speechless.
All in all it's a kind of work, I like to look at for hours.

this might sound like a stupid question, but Im curious as to why there is a screw head in the left mushroom, are they fake, or props or... I dunno, this picture seems to have a lot of story to it that Im interested in hearing :)

ahah, non it wasn't intentional :) I had a shot of a group young mushrooms of family Leccinum, and I was thinking I had to paint something inspired to it because it looked like an abandoned smurf village.
What I think it's nice is that everybody can look at it and imagine a story.
She's walking there and it is not told if someone still lives there, or something else, and what she could expect in her walk...

You're very kind, but don't say so: I'm pretty sure you're going to do much better than these small little faeries. Maybe one day you'll look at this painting thinking that's just crap ;)

The level of realism is something I will never achieve in digitalart, but I thank you for your kind encouragement :)

Well, personally I don't think that realism is the best skill in art. Well, anatomy, lighting, perspective and so are fundamentals, which can be achieved with exercise (And I'm far away from the results I would like to have), but I think it's much more important to have a nice story behind. I really think you can get all of this, so keep the good work up!

(and sorry for late reply, I've been sick a few days)

Get well soon! I will follow your advice and keep practicing. I'm okay at observational drawings and realism when it comes to pencils and pastels, but getting to that on the tablet is something I shall work towards!

(I confess you that the blurring/macro effect  is good also because it saves time from painting a lot of details on the whole canvas :) )
